Well February 1st, 2011 we experienced our first blizzard up here in northern Missouri! It was a crazy, exciting, amazing (I could go on) experience! It seriously snowed for 12 hours, the wind blew and blew and you could hardly see the tree line from my living room windows. The picture above is the before picture taken at 9:00 am. I took pictures of the deck every two hours to compare to the last pictures and see how much snow we had. I called it the "Deck Report". :) You have to think of something to do when your getting snowed in, most people probably bake but I took pictures. The next two pictures were taken at 1:30 pm at that point I was thinking how can it be possible that we aren't even halfway through this storm and we have that much snow!

Next came the 5:00 pm pictures, at this point I was counting down till the next time till the "Deck Report" a lot of this snow drifted. We actually only got 18-20 inches...only. We had snow on the ground though before this big storm even hit.

Okay, time for the 7:00 pm Deck Report....

And here is the 9:00 pm, about this time I was beginning to wonder what the yard looked like and exactly how deep it was out there! Oh and if my deck was going to with stand all that weight of the snow! Deck report to be continued....

So finally when it was over the next morning, February 2nd, 2011 this is what the deck report looked like in daylight after the snow stopped.

The park was closed for 5 days, we finally got out the back way of the park on Thursday because the dam in our park caught so much drifting snow it filled up the road and it took days of Dusty and the maintenance guys lifting up and dumping snow bucket by bucket up over the guard rail over to the side of the dam. This picture of Dusty working on the dam just amazes me! So much snow!
The positives to this storm, we had lot's of groceries, wood, batteries, electricity stayed on even though we had a back up generator. It was a good family bonding experience and thankfully Gracie had just had her birthday party the weekend before and we had lot's of new toys to play with! :)
